  1. Cameroon seeks construction of 30-MW hydro plant at Lom Pangar Dam

Cameroon utility Electricity Development Corp. (EDC) invites applications for pre-qualification to construct the 30-MW hydroelectric plant at Lom Pangar Dam, which is being built on Cameroon's Sanaga River. Responses are due before October 8. EDC also seeks applications for pre-qualification before October 8 to construct 90-kilovolt transmission lines from Lom Pangar to Bertoua, Batouri and Abong Mbang and substations at Batouri and Abong Mbang. The utility recruited consultants last year to design and implement a local development plan for communities affected by construction of Lom Pangar. EDC hired China International Water and Electric Corp. to complete construction of Lom Pangar Dam and commissioned Coyne et Bellier to oversee the work. Construction began in 2012 . In addition to its own 30 MW, Lom Pangar is to increase water storage for an additional 120 MW of production capacity at 263-MW Edea and 396-MW Song Loulou hydroelectric projects also on the Sanaga . EDC now invites applications for pre-qualification for design, supply, installation and commissioning of the 30-MW hydro plant and a substation at Lom Pangar. In a separate solicitation it invites applications for pre-qualification for construction of the 90-kV transmission lines and their substations. Pre-qualification documents, in French, for each solicitation may be obtained from the address below for 150,000 Central French Africa (CFA) francs or 230 euros (US$293) each. Applications for pre-qualification are due before October 8 to the address below, labeled either "Candidature de Prequalification pour la conception, la fourniture, le montage et la mise en service de l'Usine de pied de Lom Pangar et du poste evacuateur" or "Candidature de Prequalification pour la conception, la fourniture, le montage et la mise en service des lignes de transport Haute Tension 90 kV Lom Pangar-Bertoua, Bertoua-Batouri, Batouri-Abong Mbang et des postes 90/30 kV de Bertoua, Batouri, Abong Mbang."
