  1. California water agency seeks hydro, water facilities management

The California Department of Water Resources requests qualifications from asset management firms to advise the agency on management of DWR dams and hydropower and other water resources facilities. Responses are due July 22. The California Water Project includes 34 storage facilities, reservoirs, and lakes; 20 pumping plants; four pump-generation plants; five hydroelectric plants; and 700 miles of canals and pipelines. The project provides supplemental water to 20 million Californians and 660,000 acres of irrigated farmland. DWR previously recruited engineering consultants to provide dam safety evaluations and hydro generator test engineering consultants . DWR's Division of Operation and Maintenance now seeks firms with extensive background in asset management to submit statements of qualifications. It seeks a contractor to provide expert technical advice and consultation in management, asset management, design, operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of water storage, water conveyance, and large pumping and hydropower generating facilities. The agency said its request for qualifications contains a description of qualifications required and directions for preparation and submittal of responses. Statements of qualifications are due by 2 p.m., Pacific time, July 22. To obtain a copy of Request for Qualifications 10104389, contact Kaci Boyd, California Department of Water Resources, (1) 916-653-9827; E-mail: kaci.boyd@water.ca.gov ; Internet: www.water.ca.gov .
