    EHEPCL invites RfQs for Etalin hydroelectric power project

    Etalin Hydro Electrical Power Company (EHEPCL) has invited global RfQs for the hydroelectric power project in Etalin, Arunachal Pradesh.

    EHEPCL has invited pre-qualification bids under ICB process for implementation of the 3,097 MW hydroelectric power project through various packages.

    EHEPCL is a joint venture company between Jindal Power (http://www.projectstoday.com/news/jindal-power-plans-three-hydro-power-projects) and Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh. The JV company is currently in the process of obtaining the requisite statutory clearances for the power project.

    The last date for submission of pre-qualification is 26 August, 2014.

    Manitoba regulator nixes Conawapa project, recommends new demand-management entity

    The Public Utilities Board of Manitoba has recommended against building the 1,485-MW Conawapa hydro generating project and an associated transmission line in the northern part of the province and said the province-owned utility should be divested of demand-side management responsibilities.

    In its Needs For and Alternatives To, or NFAT, review, launched in November 2012, a panel of the board recommended proceeding with the 695-MW Keeyask hydro project and construction of a C$1 billion transmission network to export power through Duluth, Minn. The review was required to be completed June 20, and was made available to the public several days later.

    Liberals refuse funding for First Nations hydro project; Energy minister won't budge, saying band will have to find $16 million for improvements

    The Ontario Liberal government is taking a hard line against a First Nations community in northwestern Ontario wanting financial assistance to start up a hydroelectric project.

    Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli said Thursday the small Lac La Croix native community has to find $16 million to improve transmission lines because the rest of Ontario electricity users are not footing the bill.
