Engineering services bid date extended for Mozambique works including Nacala Dam

Mozambique has extended the bidding deadline for engineering services to help select construction contractors for infrastructure work including rehabilitation of Nacala Dam and reservoir. Bids now are due April 9.

The government previously called for bids by March 31. (HydroWorld 2/19/10) A recommended pre-proposal meeting also was delayed until March 25 and clarifications may be requested by e-mail until March 17.

Mozambique's Ministry of Planning and Development and the U.S.-backed Millennium Challenge Corp. formed a five-year compact, Millennium Challenge Account-Mozambique, which is advancing the Nacala Dam project. The program is intended to reduce poverty through economic growth in Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, and Zambezia by focusing on physical assets investments, policy reform, capacity building, and institutional strengthening.

The government last year called for a hydrologist to oversee rehabilitation of Nacala Dam at Nacala, Mozambique. (HydroWorld 4/17/09)

MCA-Mozambique now invites proposals for independent engineering services to participate in evaluation of construction contractors to implement works including rehabilitation of Nacala Dam, upgrade and rehabilitation of 491 kilometers of roads, upgrade and expansion of eight water supply systems and six sanitation and drainage systems, and construction or rehabilitation of 600 rural water points. The work is to require 35 months.

Prospective bidders must register by e-mail to the address below. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids are due by 11 a.m. April 9.
