Costa Rica seeks bids to modernize 120-MW Rio Macho


Costa Rica's electric utility seeks bids to modernize the 120-MW Rio Macho hydroelectric project on the Macho River. Bids are due March 17, 2010.

With funds from the Inter-American Development Bank, Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) seeks bids for six lots that include electro-mechanical equipment to modernize Units 1 and 2, which were built in 1959 and 1963, and for plant-wide control and protective systems. The work is expected to increase each unit's capacity by 2.5 MW.

Solicitation documents in Spanish may be obtained from the address below. Bids are due by 10 a.m. March 17.
