The government of Pakistan invites expressions of interest from additional consultants to provide advice in structuring and financing hydroelectric projects. Responses to two solicitations are due November 21, 2009.
Pakistan recruited consultants for the program in June to serve as resident adviser to a financing cell being established to support construction of several large hydroelectric projects. (HydroWorld 6/1/09)
It also called for consultants in April to perform planning studies in the fields of water and hydropower development that includes studies of two large hydropower projects on the Indus River. Among projects being developed on the Indus in Pakistan are 4,320-MW Dasu, 4,500-MW Diamer Basha, the 960-MW Tarbela 4th Extension to the 3,478-MW Tarbela project, 5,458-MW Bunji, and 96-MW Jinnah. The 1,450-MW Ghazi Barotha project went on line on the Indus in 2003.
In the first of two current solicitations, Pakistan’s Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF) seeks a consulting firm with experience in structuring and financing of hydro projects to review Pakistan's water and power sector and help implement a framework for private sector participation in hydropower.
In the second solicitation, IPDF seeks consultants to work for the IPDF Multi-purpose Water Reservoir Financing Cell, again with expertise in the hydroelectric sector.
Expressions of interest for both solicitations are due November 21. For information, contact M.
