India's Himachal Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. (HPPC) invites expressions of interest in supply of geo-technical instrumentation for the 111-MW Sawra Kuddu and 195-MW Kashang Stages 1, 2, and 3 hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh State. Responses are due November 11, 2009.
Andritz Hydro, which is supplying electro-mechanical equipment for Sawra Kuddu, said in May it expects to complete its work on that project in mid-2012 on the Pabbar River. (HydroWorld 5/6/09) HPPC also took bids in May for electro-mechanical equipment for the three Kashang projects, which with the eventual 48-MW Kashang Stage 4, are to comprise what HPPC has called 243-MW Integrated Kashang on the Kashang River. The current solicitation calls for geo-technical instruments to monitor various structures and operations during project construction and operation of Sawra Kuddu, Kashang 1-3, and other future projects to be carried out by HPPC. Instruments are to include piezometers, tape extensometers, load cells, inclinometers, water level indicators, stess meters, and others.
Expressions of interest and qualifications, labeled "EOI for Geo-technical Instrumentation for ongoing Hydroelectric Projects in HPPCL," are due to the address below by 4 p.m. November 11.

Patel wins civil work, gates contract for Sawra Kuddu
HPPC awarded a contract to Patel Engineering Ltd. of India for civil work, gates, and hoisting equipment for Sawra Kuddu.
Patel won the job in competition with eight other bidders. (HydroWorld 4/29/09) The 2.8 billion rupee (US$58.7 million) contract calls for construction of Sawra Kuddu's diversion tunnel, power intake, desanding arrangement, and gates and hoisting equipment.
HPPC previously awarded a contract to Patel for construction of the Sawra Kuddu powerhouse complex. It also awarded a contract to VA Tech Hydro Pvt. India Ltd. and VA Tech EWF Pvt. Ltd of India to supply electro-mechanical equipment.
