Jixi pumped-storage hydro plant begins operation in China


The 1,800-MW Jixi pumped-storage hydroelectric power project has begun operation in China's Anhui Province, regional media reported.

The hydropower project, located at Tongkeng village in the town of Fuling, is co-funded by State Grid, East China Grid, Jiangsu Electric Power, Shanghai Electric Power, Xuangcheng municipal government and the local government. The total investment amounts to 8.2 billion yuan (US$1.2 billion), regional media reported.

In other news, Toshiba Corporation recently announced it is supplying pumped-storage hydro plant systems to CSG Power Generation Company, a group company of China Southern Power Grid Co. Ltd., for a hydro project in China.

The systems will be installed at Qingyuan Pumped-Storage Power Station in Guangdong Province, wire services reported.
