Corps seeks small business engineering services for Nashville District

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks architect-engineering services from small businesses to support hydroelectric projects in the Corps' Nashville, Tenn., District. Bids are due March 1, 2010.

The Corps issued a nearly identical solicitation in January seeking similar architect-engineering services that are not restricted to small businesses. Those bids are due Feb. 19. (HydroWorld 1/25/10)

The Nashville District issued a sources sought notice in August 2009 to determine the interest, size, and availability of firms for up to five contracts for hydropower plant maintenance and repair design tasks that primarily require electrical or mechanical engineering and related engineering expertise.

The Corps now plans to award up to five indefinite delivery contracts to provide design services for related hydropower plant rehabilitation, electrical and mechanical design, and design for operation and maintenance tasks.

For each five-year contract, the total cumulative amount will not exceed $3 million, with no one task order exceeding $250,000. The earlier unrestricted solicitation has a total cumulative amount not to exceed $5 million, with no one task order exceeding $1 million.

Knowledge of the general locality of the Nashville District and the specific conditions associated with the Cumberland River projects will be evaluated. A 2008 assessment of equipment at nine Corps hydropower plants on the Cumberland in Tennessee and Kentucky found a need for up to $470 million in repairs.

The Corps anticipates awarding the contract in May.

The solicitation is available from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912P510R0009 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. Prospective bidders must register at the Central Contractor Registration database, www.ccr.gov.

Bids are due by 2 p.m. Central time March 1 to the address below. For information, contact Ray Kendrick, Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, Room A-604, 110 9th Ave. South, Nashville, TN 37203; (1) 615-736-7932; E-mail: ray.kendrick@us.army.mil.
