The contractor responsible for the rehabilitation of seven generating units at the Rocky Reach hydro project on the Columbia River in Washington agreed to pay to correct design problems, media reported.
Alstom Hydro U.S. Inc. agreed to pay as much as $14 million to correct cracks in paint and welds on components that were caused as a result of non-critical design defects, media reported.
A change in the contract recently was approved to account for the needed repairs.
Alstom designed and oversaw the rehabilitation of seven of the Chelan County Public Utility District project's 11 units from 2003 to 2007, reports indicate.
