The Bureau of Reclamation plans to seek bids for replacement of turbine runners and overhaul of units at the 140-MW Trinity hydroelectric project on the Trinity River in California. A solicitation is expected to be issued in October.

Reclamation requested information in August from small businesses capable of performing the work. The agency previously said it plans to seek bids to replace station service switchgear at Trinity, while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids to install an innovative corrosion control system at the Reclamation project.

Reclamation now says it plans to seek bids for the turbine work in an unrestricted solicitation open to all responsible concerns. The contract is valued at more than $10 million.

Work is to include fabrication and testing of a hydraulic turbine model; furnishing two stainless steel vertical Francis turbine runners for Trinity Units 1 and 2, nose cones, and appurtenant components; furnishing coupling bolts, wear rings, wicket gates, shaft sleeve, and other parts.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R12PS20001 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. A solicitation is expected to be issued in October, with bids to be due about Dec. 12.
