The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to replace excitation systems of six generating units undergoing overhaul in the Third Power Plant at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee project. Bids now are due Nov. 10, 2009.
Reclamation originally called for bids by Oct. 21. (HydroWorld 9/11/09) The agency awarded a $2 million contract in March to MWH Americas Inc. for planning and management of the proposed overhaul of Units G-19 through G-24 that have been in service since the mid-1970s on the Columbia River in Washington. (HydroWorld 3/3/09) It also is taking bids for stator repair on Generator G-19. (HydroWorld 10/1/09)
Reclamation said it seeks six new digitally controlled excitation systems complete with power potential transformers, power circuit breakers, rectifier bridges, and interconnecting medium-voltage alternating current busways. Removal of existing equipment and modifications to current busways also are required.
