Geotechnical work completed for Serbia's Brodarevo 1 and 2 sites

BRODAREVO, Serbia 1/16/12 (PennWell) -- Ebergiorijekt Hidroinzenjering Co. Ltd. has completed geotechnical studies for Reservoir Capital Corp.'s 58.4-MW hydroelectric plant in Brodarevo, the company announces.

The Vancouver-based energy company commissioned Energoprojekt in 2009 to complete pre-feasibility studies for the hydropower project that includes two dam sites on the Lim River in southwestern Serbia.

Energoprojekt's consultants drilled 24 holes of 12.5 meters and 108 meters in length and two galleries totaling 120 meters, excavated 11 pits, dug one shaft and completed 1,500 meters of seismic surveys in determining the area's geological stability and permeability.

Brodarevo 1 will have a capacity of 26 MW, while Brodarevo 2 will have a capacity of 32.4 MW. Both will feature three turbines with an average flow of 150 cubic meters per second and four spillways, according to a Reservoir release.

Energoprojekt is now completing river diversion plans. Work on the project is expected to begin in spring 2012.
