MANAGUA, Nicaragua 1/9/12 (PennWell) -- Honduras-based GeoConsult SA de C.V. has won a bid to supervise construction of a bypass at Nicaragua's 50-MW Centroamerica hydroelectric project.
The US$426,830 contract, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is part of Nicaragua's $381 million National Sustainable Electrification and Renewable Energy program. Bids for the project were called for in May 2011.
The country's state-owned power generator, Empresa Nicaraguense de Electricidad, says the project should extend the plant's useful life by 25 years.
