Jacobs Associates adds to hydroelectric power staff

Robert Filgas

Underground design and construction management firm Jacobs Associates continues adding to its pool of hydroelectric power experts with the addition of Robert Filgas, PE, as a senior associate.

Filgas joins the group's Walnut Creek, Calif., office with 34 years of experience in civil, structural and water resource-related project experience, including locks, dams, hydroelectric powerhouses, penstocks, pipelines, canals, tunnels, buildings and roads.

Jacobs Associates said Filgas has served as contract and task order manager, design engineer and field engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), in addition to a number of repair and replacement projects throughout the United States.

Filgas brings experience in engineering and construction, including feasibility and conceptual studies, economic evaluation, final design, plans and specification development, contract document preparation and facility inspections.

He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

HydroWorld.com reported that Jacobs Associates was amongst a number of companies selected by SMUD in May to provide owner's engineer services for the proposed 400-MW Iowa Hill pumped-storage hydroelectric plant.
