Global manufacturer Alstom has announced the creation of a new Hydro Training Center at its facility in Taubate, Brazil.

The Taubate plant, one of Alstom's major Global Technology Centers, was established in November 2011 and has since provided equipment for a number of major Latin American projects.

Now, the company said, it will be able to provide training in and other services for members of the hydropower industry.

"This initiative is aimed at promoting qualifications of professionals in the power generation market, as well as to strengthen Alstom's relationship with customers and partners," the company said in a release.

Curricula offered at the training center can be provided by Alstom or tailored to the participant. Alstom said the first session will begin in May and that it has the capability to train up to 100 people per month.

"With this, Alstom adds to its already known high-quality in the execution of projects and supply of equipment for new plants," Alstom Hydro Service project manager Cornelis Poel said. "[The training will provide] the agility and speed necessary to operate in the service market."
