Alstom Grid wins transformer award for 93-MW Lavey hydropower project

Switzerland Flag

Alstom Grid AG has been awarded a US$2.6 million contract to supply a transformer as part of an expansion of the Lavey hydroelectric plant on Switzerland's Bois-Noir River.

The contract, offered by the city of Lausanne, calls for the transformer to accommodate the addition of a 29-MW turbine-generator to the 93-MW plant. The work is to be performed by March 2017.

Lausanne pre-qualified bidders this past November to expand and adapt the project's control system. It also sought bids for civil works and electro-mechanical equipment to add the new turbine-generator to Lavey.
