Infrastructure developer and operator Parsons Brinckerhoff has announced Dr. Matthew Chan will take over as Assistant Vice President and West Hydropower Operations Manager in the group's Portland, Ore., office.
Chan will manage operations supporting Parsons Brinckerhoff's hydropower and water resource clients in the western United States, the company said. Services offered by the Western Hydropower Group include feasibility studies, design, engineering, dam safety, geologic and geotechnical assessments and studies, licensing and compliance work, program management, and sustainability services for hydropower, dam and water resource projects.
Chan has 18 years of experience with water resource and hydropower project, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licensing.
Most recently, Chan served as business development manager with the company's East Hydropower Group based in Boston, before which he worked as a senior scientist for a national environmental consulting firm.
Chan received his doctorate in fisheries science from Virginia Tech, an M.B.A. from Franklin Pierce University, an M.S. in biology from Ole Miss, and a B.A. from Wittenberg University.
