Boguchanskaya hydroelectric plant

The fifth turbine unit at JSC RusHydro's 3,000-MW Boguchanskaya hydroelectric plant has been commissioned and put into commercial operation, the Russian utility announced today.

HydroWorld.com reported in September 2011 that each of Boguchanskaya's nine 333 MW hydro turbines was manufactured by Power Machines at a cost of US$117.3 million.

RusHydro (LSE: HYDR) said the first three units began commercial operation in November 2012, with the most recent having been launched in January. The plant's current output capacity is 1,175 MW, the utility said.

The project is being developed in partnership with Russian aluminum company Rusal as part of the Boguchanskoye Energy and Metals Complex.

The project is located on the Angara River in the northern part of Russia's Krasnoyarsk Region.
