Corps awards contract for lamprey passage in fish ladder at 980-MW McNary Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a US$336,542 contract to Marine Industrial Construction LLC to construct a prototype lamprey entrance structure in a fish ladder at the 980-MW McNary hydropower project on the Columbia River.

The Corps' Walla Walla District sought bids from small businesses capable of performing the work in July.

Per the solicitation, Marine Industrial Construction is to fabricate and install a lamprey entrance structure in the Oregon shore fishway at McNary. The entrance structure is composed of modular aluminum devices that include a new entrance flume, two baffle boxes, and a trashrack. The contractor is to demolish and remove existing structures including stoplogs and is to remove then reinstall an access bridge and telescoping weirs and associated machinery.
