SMEC, Hydrochina sign MOU for future hydroelectric power development

Engineering consulting firm SMEC and power corporation Hydrochina have signed a memorandum of understanding intended to foster a long-term, cooperative relationship.

The agreement will help the companies "create opportunities for further development and ultimately conduct business together in various countries around the globe," an SMEC release said.

"SMEC is honored to be partnering with such a respectable company that has a rich history in the development of some of the world's largest hydropower and dam infrastructure projects," SMEC CEO Ross Hitt said.

Hydrochina has recently worked in developing the Jinping Dam and Longtan hydropower project, while SMEC has been active with the Roseires, Bakun and Son La hydroelectric plants.
