Knight Construction wins contract for rehab work at Corps' Garrison Dam

Garrison Dam

Knight Construction and Supply Inc. has been awarded a US$1 million contract to perform flood control tunnel interior repairs at the 517.8-MW Garrison Dam.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Omaha District most recently solicited bids for the work in January.

The work is to include the removal and replacement of intake structure gantry crane wire rope, the east side air seal on flood control tunnel regulating gate No. 7, and trunnion bearing oil seals on three regulating gates. In addition, the trunnion bearing oiling system is to be refilled and evaluated for defects.

Garrison Dam is located on the Missouri River in North Dakota, and is one of numerous Corps projects that have been receiving repair work following 2011 flood damage.

HydroWorld.com reported in March 2012 that Knight Construction had been awarded a $8.35 million contract for rehabilitation work at Oregon's 20-MW Big Cliff hydropower plant.
