Consortium wins award to develop 300 MW hydroelectric project in Peru

ProInversion/CEE

Peruvian private investment agency ProInversion has awarded a contract to develop the Molloco hydroelectric project to CEE, the group announced.

The project will use water resources in the Molloco River Basin and the Palca River, with energy generated to be supplied to Empresa de Generacion Electrica de Arequipa S.A. (Egasa).

The Molloco complex will include several regulation dams in addition to a pair of hydroelectric powerhouses, including the 142-MW Llatica and 159-MW Soro.

CEE, which consists of Corsan, Corviam, Engevix and Enex, now has 24 months to complete studies and inform Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines of its intentions to proceed with what is expected to be a 60-month construction process.

HydroWorld.com reported in December 2012 that the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) had approved a loan to develop the 5.26-MW Pachacayo project, also located in Peru.
