Kleinshmidt Associates, a hydroelectric project and ecological services provider, has announced that Charles (Chuck) A. Padera will succeed Jacob A. Palmer III as the company's president and CEO, effective March 1.
Palmer retires from Kleinschmidt after a 16 year tenure that saw the company grow from a regional firm to a national business with 10 offices spread across the United States.
His successor, Padera, brings more than 30 years of experience in water resources management and environmental consulting arenas in both the private and public sectors.
Padera's technical experience includes work in hydrodynamics, hydrology and water quality issues.
"Chuck's background, skills and personality make him ideally suited for taking the reins at Kleinschmidt," Palmer said. "He is a true leader capable of bringing Kleinschmidt to the next level by guiding the future growth and development of the organization."
Padera has previously served as senior vice president and Integrated Water Resources National Business Director at Atkins (formerly PBS&J), where he led staff in 27 offices across North America.
While at Atkins, he directed several large-scale consulting contracts, including a national FEMA flood protection program, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Comprehensive Everglades Restoration and Post-Katrina Flood Protection Restoration programs.
Padera said his background makes him a good fit for his work at Kleinschmidt.
"My strength has been on building strong teams at each stop along the way, and given our shared principles, I anticipate great success working with my new colleagues at Kleinschmidt, helping to broaden our geographic and client diversity," Padera said.
