ABB wins contract for work at 2,450-MW Chief Joseph hydropower project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded ABB, Inc. a contract worth US$7.47 million to supply 11 replacement excitation systems at the 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph hydroelectric plant near Bridgeport, Wash.

The Corps' Seattle District most recently called for bids in October 2012 for work which includes the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of main-unit excited replacements.

As per the contract, ABB will also supply automatic voltage regulators, power system stabilizers, power potential transformers and ancillary equipment.
