  • Unnamed Turkish investor expresses interest in funding Belarus' 20-MW Nemnovo hydropower project

    The Belarusian Energy Ministry is considering an investment proposal that would help pay for the 20-MW Nemnovo hydroelectric plant, HydroWorld.com has learned.

    According to state news service Belarusian Telegraph Agency, and unnamed Turkish company could invest more than US$100 million into the Nemnovo hydropower project should the country's legislature approve a draft investment contract.

    The new hydro facility, which would be constructed on Belarus' Neman River, is one of several proposed projects. Also included in the country's plans are new hydroelectric plants in Orsha, Shklov, Mogilev and Rechitsa along the Dnieper River

    HydroWorld.com reported in May that Belarusian Prim Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich has emphasized funding for the country's hydropower engineering development program a priority.
