Electricite de France (EDF) has awarded a contract to Bouygues Travaux Publics Regions France to rehabilitate concrete at the Chambon Dam on the Romanche River in eastern France.

EDF, which last sought bids for the work in November, requires Boutgues Travaux Publics to reinforce the monolith at the top of the dam using pre-stressed anchors, contain the upstream area with carbon-fiber fabric, and patch the downstream face.

Chambon is a 90-meter-tall, 293-meter-long concrete gravity dam in the French Isere Department. EDF was prompted to seek rehabilitation and repair work after alkali-aggregate reactions caused the concrete to expand and crack.

The lot given to Boutgues Travaux Publics is one of three offered by EDF. Its value was not specified in the contract award notice.
