  • Energa Hydro awards contract for work at Zydowo pumped-storage plant

Power Engineering S.A. of Poland has won a US$2.78 million contract to refurbish a generator at the 156-MW Zydowo pumped-storage project on the Radew River.

Polish utility Energa Hydro Sp.z.o.o. extended its deadline for bids for the work in August, which calls for the extensive reconstruction and modernization of Zydowo's Hz-2 generator unit.

Energa's engineering consultant, Energoprojekt Warszawa S.A., took bids for equipment to modernize Zydowo in 2010, which features two conventional turbine-generators and one pump-turbine-generator. The facility was built in 1971.

HydroWorld.com reported recently that Energoprojekt Warszawa had awarded a contract to Tauron Ekoenergia for rehabilitation work at another Polish hydropower plant.
