Icelandic transmission utility Landsnet has awarded a US$1.2 million contract to Orkuvirki ehf. to construct a substation for the 80-MW Budarhals hydropower project.
The work is to include engineering studies and design work, plus the manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of high-voltage equipment.
Landsnet last solicited bids for the substation in March.
HydroWorld.com also reported that Icland utility Landsvirkjun sought bids for high-voltage cables and terminations in April.
The Budarhals hydroelectric plant will be located on Iceland's Tungnaa and Kaldakvisi rivers.
