German company looking to expand Indian presence by acquiring hydro shares

German construction and development firm Hochtief Solutions AG is interested in acquiring shares of Indian hydropower projects, HydroWorld.com has learned.

The company, which completed repairs at Scotland's 100-MW Glendoe hydropower project in May, is reportedly interested in expanding its Indian portfolio with projects with capacities between 100 and 250 MW.

Hochtief told Indian sources that it is interested in buying up to 49% in projects that have approvals and government clearances but are at early stages of development so it can become involved in the construction and management phases.
