  • Futurenet Group selected for Gavins Point Dam repair work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract worth US$2.96 million to Futurenet Group Inc. for work at the 132.3-MW Gavins Point hydropower project.

The Corps' Omaha District last sought bids for the work in June, which calls for the replacement of tailrace erosion protection. The job will require the placement of 38,900 tons of riprap, with options for between 5,200 and 23,400 tons of additional riprap.

The repairs are needed because of 2011 flooding in the Missouri River basin. Gavins Point is the lowermost dam on the Missouri and impounds Lewis and Clark Lake on the Nebraska/South Dakota border.

The Corps is also currently soliciting bids for spillway gate repairwork at Gavins Point.
