Voith given top honors by Brazil's Exame magazine

Voith Hydro Brazil has been honored by economics and business magazine Exame as the best company in the country's capital goods sector.

Voith Hydro Brazil says Exame's 2012 award process examined 3,500 companies from 18 different business sectors and is based on a set of 31 financial indicators such as growth, profitability, financial health, investments and productivity per employee.

"We are very honored with this award," says Voith Hydro Brazil President and Chief Executive Officer Osvaldo San Martin. "It is an acknowledgment of our commitment to Brazil. We have increasingly invested in the country, thus contributing to the expansion of the energy mix."

Voith, headquartered in Germany, says its first shipment to Brazil was delivered in 1905. Since then, the company says nearly half of Latin America's hydro plants have turbines or generators manufactured by Voith Hydro.

"We are suppliers of complete solutions for the nation's largest hydro power generation projects, deemed strategic to ensure the supply of electrical energy to sustain Brazil's development and economic growth," San Martin says. reported in August 2011 that a Voith-led consortium had been named to equip Brazil's 1,850-MW Teles Pires hydroelectric facility.

The company's North American After Market Division also recently announced its merger with Peak Hydro Services.

Voith Hydro will serve as the Platinum Sponsor for HydroVision Brasil, which runs September 25-27 in Rio de Janeiro.
