Trelleborg introduces mobile apps for hydro professionals

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has introduced a trio of mobile applications designed to help the hydro workforce, the design and manufacturing company told HydroWorld.com during HydroVision International 2012.

Trelleborg's first app, "ISO Fits and Tolerances", is targeted toward engineers and offers information based on the ISO 286 System of Limits and Fits. The company says its designed to help users work away from their desks.

"Upon entering the nominal diameter needed, users simply select the tolerance classes for bore and shaft," says Trelleborg Project Manager Wolfgang Heinrich. "The app then provides the complete ISO fit definition with all relevant values, including the type of fit. Tolerances are shown for the most commonly used ISO tolerance classes, and convenient graphs illustrate these classes by bore and shaft."

Trelleborg's "O-Ring Calculator" and "Unit Hardness Converter" offer similar functionality.

"We are always looking for ways to make our customers' lives easier, and with the workforce becoming more mobile every day, we need to provide tools that can be used on the go," Heinrich says.

All three of the apps are offered in English and German versions available free of charge. Each of the apps is compatible with Apple iOS and is available for download via the Apple App Store.

Trelleborg also offers an Android-compatible version of the ISO Fits and Tolerances app via Google Play.

HydroWorld.com reported in April that the company is continuing to expand its presence in India.
