Contract awarded for work at Corps' 96-MW Greers Ferry hydroelectric project

Hartman-Walsh Painting Company has been awarded a contract worth US$1,484,440 for repair and paint work at the 96-MW Greers Ferry hydropower plant in Arkansas.

As per the contract, Hartman-Walsh will clean, repair and paint interior steel surfaces of two main unit penstock assemblies, scroll cases and wicket gates.

Both penstocks are about 190 feet long, with diameters of 18.5 feet that taper down to 8 feet. Each unit contains 24 wicket gates with a surface area of 17.7 square feet each.

HydroWorld.com reported that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Little Rock District last solicited bids for the work in February.
