Company files EIA for Chilean small hydropower project

Trans Antartic Energia has submitted an environmental impact assessment to Chile's Servicio de Evaluacion Ambiental for a 6.7-MW hydropower project in the southern part of the country.

The run-of-river facility is expected to cost US$16 million and will use waters from the Huenteleufu River.

Work on the project is expected to begin by November 2013.

HydroWorld.com reported in June that Chilean power company Colbun denied reports that it was planning to unload part of its holding in the country's 2,750-MW HidroAysen project.
