  • World Bank to help finance 4,320-MW Dasu hydropower plant

LAHORE, Pakistan 6/22/12 (PennWell) -- Pakistan's 4,320-MW Dasu hydroelectric project will receive at least partial financing from the World Bank, HydroWorld.com has learned, although exactly how much has not been announced.

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) said the Dasu project will built in stages after the initiation of the 4,500-MW Diamer-Bhasha hydropower plant.

WAPDA says the World Bank funding will be used for the Dasu facility's engineering designs, which should be completed in early 2013.

HydroWorld.com reported in June 2010 that WAPDA was soliciting expressions of interest for the project's engineering design.
