Indian utility acquires 146 MW of hydroelectric power in Arunachal Pradesh State

CALCUTTA, India 5/18/12 (PennWell) -- Power utility CESC Limited has entered into an agreement with the Indiabulls Group to acquire two hydropower facilities in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The projects -- 56-MW Pachi and 90-MW Papu -- are both in the state's East Kameng District.

The two hydropower plants add to the 90 MW of hydroelectric capacity already in CESC's portfolio.

Financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed.

Arunachal Pradesh has been a hotbed of hydroelectric development in recent years. HydroWorld.com reported earlier this month that pre-qualifications are being accepted for civil works of the 600-MW Tawang 1 and 800-MW Tawang 2 hydropower plants. A pre-feasibility report for the 9,750-MW Brahmaputra River project was also recently submitted.
