Kenya awards contract for renewable source feasibility study

NAIROBI, Kenya 4/4/12 (PennWell) -- Kenya's Ministry of Energy has awarded a six-month contract to Economic Consulting Associates for an economic and feasibility study.

The London-based consulting firm will provide information to the World Bank-funded Kenya Electricity Expansion Project about small-scale, grid-connected power plants utilizing renewable energies.

Amongst the renewables being examined are small hydroelectric, wind, biomass, geothermal, biogas, solar and municipal solid waste sources.

Kenya's Ministry of Energy solicited bids for the project in March 2011.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed in the award notice.
