BRATSK, Russia 3/2/12 (PennWell) -- Voith Hydro will manufacture six new Francis runners and related equipment for the Bratsk hydropower station.
The first runner will be installed on-site in 2013, while the remaining five will be delivered to the Eastern Siberia facility at half-year intervals.
Voith Hydro says each runner will have a diameter of 6 meters and a capacity of 255 MW.
When completed, the plant -- on the Angara River -- will have a total capacity of 4,500 MW and will supply the city of Bratsk and its large aluminum foundry with electricity.
The company says it received an order in 2001 for the modernization of the first two governors at Bratsk, and orders for the delivery and commissioning of new governors, governor adapters and oil processing equipment followed.
Voith Hydro previously won a contract for turbine work in September 2011.
As of 2011, 18 of Bratsk's units have been fitted with Voith Hydro technology, the company says.
