Copisa wins contract for new Costa Rican hydropower plant

PAVONES, Costa Rica 3/14/12 (PennWell) -- Spanish-based construction firm Copisa has been awarded a contract for construction of a new hydroelectric plant, sources report.

The contract, awarded by developer Union Fenosa Generadora Torito, is worth about US$29 million.

The new Torito hydropower facility will have a capacity of 50-MW when it is completed, Copisa says.

Fenosa won the bid to develop the project in March 2008 from Costa Rica national utility Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) on a build-operate-transfer basis.
