PRAGUE, Czech Republic 12/22/11 (PennWell) -- Mavel has been awarded a US$6.98 million contract by developer Mercator Energy to equip the 4.59-MW Libechov hydroelectric project on the Elbe River in the Czech Republic.
Mercator first called for bids for the hydropower facility in October 2010, then again in December 2010, June 2011 and most recently, September 2011.
The contract stipulates that Mavel will manufacture, supply and install one Kaplan turbine-generator with a diameter of 4.8 meters and an average power generation of 12 MWh.
Libechov is a small town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic located about 36 kilometers north of Prague.
