
DURBAN, South Africa 11/28/11 (PennWell) -- The International Hydropower Association (IHA) announces that it will be participating in the 17th Conference of Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
COP17 is being held in Durban, South Africa, and runs from Nov. 28 through Dec. 9.
IHA is part of the International Renewable Energy Alliance (REN Alliance) and will participate in three events:
-- Mobilising Finance and Investment for Water Security and Climate Resilience (organized by the African Ministers Council on Water, the Climate and Development Knowledge Network, IHA, the Stockholm International Water Institute, and the Global Water Partnership) Dec. 5, 11:30 am-1 pm
-- Renewables Working Together: New financing schemes in developing countries – the Green Climate Fund (organized by the World Future Council and International Renewable Energy Alliance), Dec. 7, 3-4.30 pm
-- Large-scale hydro energy project – How can regional cooperation boost hydropower development and thus help in climate change mitigation and adaptation? (organized by the South African Department of Energy and Electricite de France) Dec. 8, 9-11:30 am
