EDP Energias do Brasil, the Brazilian holding company of Portuguese electricity group Energias de Portugal, has announced the acquisition of two small hydro projects in the mid-western state of Mato Grosso from local group Bertin.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
In a statement, EDP said the plants have a combined generation capacity of 49.5 MW.
Total investments in the projects are estimated at 304 million reais (US$179 million), with 18.5 percent of the total to be disbursed in 2010, another 46.5 percent in 2011 and 35 percent in 2012, Business News Americas reported.
The price of the power to be sold by the plants is set at 150 reais/MWh over a 10-year period, starting in 2013, wire reports indicate.
