  • Egemsa submits EIS for Peru small hydropower project

Peruvian state generator Egemsa has submitted an environmental impact statement to the energy and mines ministry to use water from the Aobamba River in Cuzco department to produce hydroelectric power, wire services reported.

The project is comprised of two components, the first of which entails a 7-MW run-of- -river small hydro plant, Business News Americas reported.

The other component would increase capacity at Egemsa's 107-MW Machupicchu hydropower plant by 10 MW using discharge from the run-of-the-river-plant.
