Bahleda named senior energy consultant for Halcrow

Michael Bahleda has accepted a position as a senior energy consultant for the North American power division of Halcrow.

In this position, Bahleda will be responsible for waterpower project development for both conventional hydropower and emerging hydrokinetic technologies.

Before joining Halcrow, he was an independent consultant, providing support to resolve technical, economic and regulatory issues to take sustainable power projects from concept to production. Previously, Bahleda was technical leader for EPRI's renewables, hydro and economic program and principal engineer in American Electric Power's hydro operations group.

Bahleda has more than 30 years of experience in the energy business, including hydro construction, operations and maintenance, as well as hydrokinetic development. He has worked with the U.S. Department of Energy, Verdant Power, Public Service New Mexico and the Dairyland Power Cooperative.

In addition, Bahleda serves on the steering committee of the HydroVision International conference and is track facilitator for the Policies and Regulations track at HydroVision International 2011, scheduled for July 19-22 in Sacramento, Calif.

Halcrow specializes in planning, design and management services for infrastructure development worldwide. The company employs more than 7,000 people and has more than 80 offices around the world. Bahleda will be based in Arlington, Va.
