Alstom to supply equipment to Xiajiang hydroelectric project in China

Alstom has won a contract for the supply of equipment to the Xiajiang hydropower project under development in China, Alstom announced.

The contract, worth about EUR50 million (US$69 million) and awarded to Alstom by Jiangxi Province Xiajiang Water Control Project Headquarters, involves the supply of five 40-MW bulb turbine and generator units to the new Xiajiang hydropower station currently under construction on the Ganjiang River, 160 km from Nanchang city in Jiangxi Province.

The hydro plant is due to be operational in summer 2013.

The equipment for the project will be manufactured and supplied by Alstom Hydro China at Alstom's new manufacturing site at Tianjin.
