Andritz Hydro wins US40 million Angostura hydropower project contract

Andritz Hydro has won a US$40 million contract for the provision of floodgates and drainage systems for the Angostura hydropower project on the Biobio River in Chile, Chilean utility Colbun announced.

As part of the contract, Andritz Hydro will develop six floodgates over 17 meters in height and two drainage systems. The units will allow the management of water levels, Colbun reported.

Earlier in 2010, Colbun signed a contract worth US$123 million with French firm Alstom for the provision of three turbines for the dam.

The US$420 million, 320-MW Angostura hydro project is expected to come online in early 2013.
