Colombian hydro generator Epsa plans to begin operations at its 18.8-MW Amaime small hydropower plant within a month, developers told wire services.
The company expects the 20-MW Alto Tulua and 20-MW Bajo Tulua small hydropower plants to be online in 2011. The three hydro projects, located in the Valle de Cuaca region, will benefit from selling carbon credits under the UN's clean development mechanism, developers reported.
In other news, Brazil's 1,087-MW Estreito hydro plant will begin test operations in December, a spokesperson for the consortium building the hydropower project told wire services.
Commercial operations for the hydropower project would begin in January or February 2011, project officials told wire services.
