Finland's Poyry has been awarded a surveying contract for the new Limmern pumped-storage hydropower plant in Switzerland, Poyry reported.
The services comprise all geodetic surveying tasks during the construction period lasting until 2015. The value of Poyry's assignment is about EUR 2.1 million.
Kraftwerke Linth-Limmern AG is developing the 1,000-MW Limmern project in Linthal Valley in eastern Switzerland. The plant is being built to provide electricity during periods of peak demand and to help further develop Switzerland's low-carbon power generation.
Poyry's tasks comprise the independent checking of all major geodetic surveying works as well as geodetic deformation measurements and the monitoring of caverns, dam and tunnel sections. Furthermore, Poyry's contract includes the geodetic basic point network and the major setting-out of access tunnels, galleries, caves, gravity dam, surge chamber, pressure shafts and associated structures. Poyry's task ends with the industrial surveying for the installation of components such as turbines and steel structures.
Recently, Poyry was awarded the HVAC design contract for the Limmern pumped-storage hydropower plant.
