
The Aboitiz Group plans to work with students from the engineering and architecture division of the Ateneo de Davao University to help boost the efficiency of five hydropower projects operating under Aboitiz subsidiary Hedcor Inc.
Under an agreement, third-year civil engineering students will conduct a site survey, hydro-structure measurements, and draft construction blueprints for the Talomo Hydro 1, 2, 2A, 2B and 3 power plants, regional media reported. The Aboitiz Group has granted P242,000 (US$5,430) for the project, reports indicate.
In other news, construction of a 240-MW hydroelectric power plant is set to begin in the Southern Philippines.
The Agus III hydroelectric project will be constructed along the Agus River complex within Saguiaran in Lanao del Sur and the municipalities of Pantar and Balo-i in Lanao del Norte, wire services reported.
